Which types of wood and applications is OLI NATURA® hardwax oil suitable for?
One hardwax oil for many projects – instead of keeping a different wood oil in the cupboard for every application. Whether for furniture, dining tables, kitchen countertops, stairs, wood floors, doors, wall paneling, or windowsills: OLI NATURA® hardwax oil is suitable for untreated and freshly sanded indoor wood surfaces. How does OLI NATURA® hardwax oil change the look and feel of wood?
The wood remains wood. The grain and wood tone are subtly enhanced, while the texture remains visible and tactile. This brings out the natural beauty of particularly light-colored woods. The result: a satin-matte finish with a velvety feel. Tip: Test first, then oil. Try it on similarly prepared wood with our OLI NATURA® hardwax oil sample. Assess the color and sheen after drying.
Is OLI NATURA® hardwax oil easy to apply?
Yes. Apply a thin coat. Remove excess. Polish. No primer or intermediate sanding. On untreated wood, two coats are usually best; one is often enough for light use. Prefer a more matte finish? Polish the second coat while still wet with a white oil pad. Once fully cured, the surface stands up to everyday use: durable, dirt- and water-repellent. The oiled surface does not crack, peel, or flake. And what if signs of wear remain? Touch up the affected areas instead of sanding down the entire surface. OLI-NATURA® COLOUR hardwax oil is the right choice when the colour of the wood is to be changed and protected at the same time - without prior staining and subsequent separate final treatment. This saves an additional application step.
Whether furniture, dining tables, kitchen worktops, stairs, doors, wall panelling or windowsills - the pigmented hardwax oil is suitable for almost all types of wood and wood-based materials indoors, including solid wood, glued laminated timber, veneer, plywood, multiplex, OSB, bamboo and cork.
Do light woods need to remain as light as possible? Cotton White reduces the natural intensifying effect and yellowish tinge - ideal for a light Scandinavian look. Light White also visibly lightens the wood. For colourless protection, OLI-NATURA® hardwax oil Natural is the right choice.
What does wood look like after applying OLI-NATURA® COLOUR hardwax oil?
The natural wood appearance is retained. The grain and structure remain visible and tactile - only the colour changes.
The final colour effect results from the interaction between the wood and the oil. The type of wood, its natural colour and the sanding determine how the same colour will look later. A sample surface on the original wood therefore shows the colour most reliably. All colours are also available as samplers.
Cotton White reduces the natural intensifying effect and yellowish tinge on light woods. Light White also visibly lightens the wood. Dark colours appear more intense on light woods, while light colours appear correspondingly more subtle on dark woods. All colours can be mixed with one another and individually softened with OLI-NATURA® hardwax oil Natural. A second application intensifies the colour effect; with OLI-NATURA® hardwax oil Natural, it is retained.
Lightfast colour pigments slow down the natural colour change of the wood caused by UV light and help maintain the colour effect for as long as possible.
How easy is OLI-NATURA® COLOUR hardwax oil to apply?
It is easy to apply evenly. One application is usually sufficient for furniture. A second application is recommended for stairs and heavily used worktops - without intermediate sanding.
Hardwax oil is not lacquer. Apply thinly - that is sufficient. The surface is hard-wearing, dirt- and water-repellent, and easy to maintain. Scratches and signs of use can be repaired locally or simply refreshed at any time - without sanding. The oil does not crack, peel or flake. If the colour is to be retained, the second application should be made with OLI-NATURA® hardwax oil Natural.
What can you rely on with OLI-NATURA® COLOUR hardwax oil?
Once fully cured, the surface is harmless to people, animals and plants. It remains open-pore and breathable, supporting a pleasant indoor climate. Suitable for children's toys. For kitchen worktops, OLI-NATURA® hardwax oil Natural is recommended as the final coat.

OLI NATURA® Boiled Linseed Oil for Wood: traditional wood finishing from our Heritage Collection
“New Old School” - a nearly forgotten classic, reimagined. In the past, boiled linseed oil was a standard finish for wooden surfaces and building components - both indoors and outdoors. In 2015, we revived the traditional formula, refined it carefully, and had it tested for contact with food.
Today, »OLI NATURA Boiled Linseed Oil« represents one of the most original ways to protect wood naturally. It penetrates deeply, cures within the wood, and forms a durable, water- and dirt-repellent oil film. The surface remains breathable, does not crack or peel, and can easily be maintained and refinished when needed.
Which wood surfaces is OLI NATURA® Boiled Linseed Oil suitable for?
The transparent boiled linseed oil is suitable for the natural initial treatment of absorbent wood surfaces indoors and outdoors. It protects cutting boards, end grain, kitchen wood, turned woodwork, bowls, and knife handles, as well as wooden toys, birdhouses and bee houses, windows, and doors. The boiled linseed oil is solvent-free, suitable for children's toys, and LFGB-tested and suitable for wood surfaces that come into contact with food.
How does OLI NATURA® Boiled Linseed Oil affect wood?
OLI NATURA Boiled Linseed Oil is transparent and unpigmented, but it enhances the wood: the color and grain visibly gain depth, making the wood appear more vibrant, warmer, and richer. Particularly light-colored woods develop a natural honey tone. Since the color effect depends on the type of wood and its base tone, we recommend testing the product first in an inconspicuous area.
How is OLI NATURA® Boiled Linseed Oil applied?
Apply the boiled linseed oil thinly and evenly with a cotton cloth or brush. After the penetration time, carefully remove any excess oil and repeat the application after it has dried sufficiently. Two to three coats are usually enough.
What distinguishes the traditional formula?
Our purity standard for boiled linseed oil: pure, cold-pressed linseed oil, gently boiled and with only as much drying agent as necessary. It accelerates and evens out curing. We deliberately dispense with additional additives and solvents.

OLI NATURA® HS Professional Oil - one application. Plenty of time to work.
Parquet, stairs, furniture, or countertops: OLI NATURA® HS Professional Oil protects interior wood with just one application. The colorless, solvent-free high-solid oil enhances the natural wood tone and highlights the grain. Depending on the type of wood, sanding, and absorbency, one liter covers approximately 25-50 m².
Up to 90 minutes of open time give you more control during application and make it easier to work without visible overlaps, even on large surfaces - by hand or mechanically. This leaves enough time for reworking and subsequent polishing. Apply the oil directly without hardener, or increase resistance and accelerate curing with OLI NATURA® Hardener. A ratio of 10 parts oil to 1 part hardener is sufficient.
Which types of wood and applications is OLI NATURA® HS Professional Oil suitable for?
For untreated or freshly sanded wood surfaces and absorbent wood-based materials indoors. On wooden floors and stairs, slip resistance is also important: R10 tested on sanded oak - both without and with hardener. Also suitable for bathroom furniture and wood surfaces with epoxy resin. Here, we recommend OLI NATURA® Hardener for greater resistance. Proven on roller coating machines: Used for years for factory-applied oil treatment of parquet and absorbent wood-based materials.
How does OLI NATURA® HS Professional Oil change the appearance and feel of the wood?
NATUR is unpigmented and intensifies the wood's natural tone: The wood tone gains depth and the grain becomes more pronounced. The surface remains matte, with the wood structure perceptible to the touch. Light-colored woods may appear darker and warmer.
For smoked effects on oak, combine HS Professional Oil with the VOC-free reactive stain OLI NATURA® ANTIQUE in the colors Smoked and Black Smoked. The subsequent oil treatment intensifies the color effect and protects the surface. For colored surfaces, choose OLI NATURA® HS Professional Oil COLOUR.
Tip: Test on wood prepared in the same way and assess the result after drying.

Apply thinly. Work in. Polish. It is a good choice for light-colored woods such as maple, oak, ash, spruce, and fir. The wood should be untreated or completely sanded back. For wood floors, choose OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil CLASSIC.
How does OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE change the look and feel of wood?
Do you like wood just the way it is? Scandic-Oil enhances the natural wood tone only slightly and gives the surface an untreated look. You can still feel the wood grain when you touch it. You can refresh the oiled surface as needed with OLI NATURA® Refresher.
Tip: Try the oil with a 20 ml sample on an offcut of your wood. Sand it in the same way as the finished surface and assess the result only after it has dried completely.

When is OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE with hardener recommended?
For tabletops and anywhere grease splashes are expected, use Scandic-Oil with OLI NATURA® H2O-Hardener. We also recommend adding hardener for stair treads. Mix ten parts oil with one part hardener. The hardener supports curing throughout and can make the surface more resistant to water, grease, and other everyday stresses.
