What is OLI-NATURA HS Professional Oil?
A high-solid impregnating oil without wax for indoor stairs, floors, and furniture. Variants: HS Professional Oil Natural (without pigments, VOC-free) and HS Professional Oil Colour (pigmented, low-VOC). Seamless application, long open time, available as 1K or 2K (with hardener in a 10:1 mix).
What are Colour HS Professional Oils, and how do they work?
Colour variants contain mineral pigments that color the wood transparently and protect it from UV rays like sunscreen.
Which surfaces is HS Professional Oil suitable for?
For planed, sanded, or untreated wood and cork floors, stairs, furniture, and tables indoors.
2. Application & Processing
How are HS Professional Oils applied?
By hand, mechanically, or on roller-coating systems.
Do I need to stir the colored HS Professional Oils before application?
Yes, because the pigments settle. Stir thoroughly before and during application. Professional tip: Mix all containers from one batch together ("batching").
Can HS Professional Oils color and protect in a single operation?
Yes, thanks to the high solids content.
Why is one coat of HS Professional Oil sufficient?
Because nothing evaporates. One coat fully saturates the wood.
Why should HS Professional Oils be worked in with a pad?
Their self-penetration is limited. Rubbing the oil in with a pad actively works it into the pores.
What does "open time" mean?
The period after application during which the oil can be spread and polished before it starts to set. Up to 60 minutes.
Can I also apply the oil with hardener?
Yes. Mixing ratio 10:1 with OLI-NATURA Hardener. It cures faster and produces a more durable surface - ideal for heavily used areas.
3. Colors & Effect
What colors is HS Professional Oil available in?
Natural + numerous shades: earth tones, black, gray, white (e.g., Chocolate Brown, Jet Black, Polar White).
Does the pigment-free HS Professional Oil “Natural” enhance the wood colour?
Yes, it intensely enhances the natural colour and grain.
Is the colour effect the same on all types of wood?
No. More pronounced on light woods, subtler on dark woods.
Can I mix shades?
Yes. All pigmented variants can be mixed with one another or with the Natural variant.
Which HS Professional Oil is suitable if light woods should not be intensified as much as possible?
“Light Ivory” preserves the natural character, while “Signal White” lightens the wood through its higher white-pigment content.
4. Care & Aftercare
How do I properly care for an oiled surface?
Clean regularly when dry, wipe with a slightly damp cloth, and use wood soap if necessary. Do not use aggressive cleaners or microfibre cloths. Avoid standing moisture.
Can I treat wood that has already been colour-oiled with HS Professional Oil again?
No. Colour oils are intended for untreated surfaces. Sand oiled surfaces beforehand.
5. Protection, Safety & Quality
Is the oiled surface suitable for contact with food?
Yes. After curing, it is suitable for food contact and complies with DIN 53160 and EN 71-3. HS Professional Oil Natural has also been LFG-tested.
Which certifications does the oil have?
TRGS 617, AgBB, DIBt, baubook, indoor air quality class A+, slip resistance R10–R11.
Which safety measures are important?
Oil-soaked cloths can spontaneously ignite. Moisten them with water and dry them outdoors or seal them airtight.
6. Practical Information
How long does curing take?
Can be used carefully after approx. 24 h. Final hardness: 1K after 5 days, with hardener after 2–3 days.
When can I furnish the surface again?
Can be walked on after 24 h. Do not furnish it until it has reached final hardness. Fit furniture with felt pads.
When can I wipe the surface with a damp cloth?
After complete curing: approx. 5 days for 1K, 2–3 days with hardener. Only wipe with a slightly damp cloth; no standing moisture or aggressive cleaners.
