Projektöl has now become a classic among impregnating oils and is the universal all-rounder. Thanks to its medical-grade isoparaffin content, it has very high self-penetration. It is therefore easy to apply, absorbs quickly, and does not require vigorous polishing. This makes Projektöl ideal for serial furniture production and components with complex geometries.
Projektöl is suitable for almost all indoor woodworking projects - whether for wooden or framed furniture, wall paneling, doors, or stairs. The solids content is 60%, so a single application is entirely sufficient for furniture subject to normal wear. Stairs or tabletops, however, require more protection. A second application is recommended here.
The oil can be applied easily with a brush, pad, cloth, roller, sponge, or spray gun. After a short absorption time, the oil should be polished again with a cotton cloth or oil-absorbing cloth. This minimizes differences in gloss that can result from the wood’s varying absorption behavior.
With Projektöl in “Natural”, the wood-enhancing effect is very pronounced. There is also the colored Projektöl. The UV-stable pigments tint the wood surfaces transparently.
To test the oil’s effect, we offer you a convenient sample size.
Sand the wood surface professionally. For furniture, sand the wood finish with 180-grit abrasive; for floors, use 100-150 grit. Wood moisture content: 8-12%. The substrate must be firm, dry, clean, grippy, sound and free of separating agents. Process the material at room temperature and shake/stir well.
For furniture:
- Apply the oil thinly and evenly in the direction of the grain using a brush/flat brush Apply thinly and evenly in the direction of the grain. Re-oil dry areas.
- Within 20-30 minutes, polish the wet oil with a oil-absorbing cloth or mini hand pad in white. The surface should feel dry.
- If required, a second coat can be applied after drying overnight, as described above.
- Protect from water during the curing period and do not clean with a damp cloth.
For parquet floors:
- Apply the oil thinly and evenly in sections of 5-10 m² using an oil roller, oil brush Re-oil dry areas.
- Within 20-30 minutes, polish the wet oil with a Super hand pad in white or beige beneath the pad holder for telescopic handle pad. Alternatively, you can use a single-disc machine. Polish until the surface looks even.
- Finally, polish the surface with an Super hand pad in white or oil-absorbing cloth No excess oil may remain on the surface.
- Apply a second coat after drying overnight, as described above.
- Protect from water during the curing period and do not clean with a damp cloth.
Coverage: 1-2 coats | Depending on the absorbency of the substrate, approximately 40-50 g/m² per coat (20-25 m²/l)
Drying: Depending on humidity and temperature, the surface is dust-dry after 1-2 hours and fully cured after 2-5 days.
TIP / NOTES:
- Pre-wetting neutralizes tannic acid in the wood, prevents water stains and optimizes absorbency.
- Do not wet the surface before staining with OLI-NATURA Antique reactive stain.
- Consumption depends on the type of wood and the absorbency of the substrate. Excess material on non-absorbent areas delays drying, as do low temperatures and/or excessively high humidity and/or excessively high wood moisture content.
NOTE ON THE RISK OF SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION: Oil-soaked cloths/pads can spontaneously ignite due to heat accumulation! Therefore, clean them immediately after use or store them under water. The product itself is not self-igniting.
To ensure the oiled wood surface does not lose its charm, it must be cleaned and maintained regularly. Dust and adhering dirt can easily be wiped away with a dry or slightly damp, but never wet, cloth. Parquet floors, on the other hand, should be vacuumed or swept daily, as sand and dust can cause fine scratches.
With the concentrated »OLI-NATURA wood soap« dirt can be gently removed without damaging the wood. To renew the protective effect, oiled wood should be refreshed from time to time with the »OLI-NATURA wood maintenance oil« or the »OLI-NATURA wood refresher« from time to time.
How often the wood surface needs to be maintained depends on various factors: What type of wood is the furniture, staircase, or floor made of? How frequently is it used? What stresses is it exposed to? Good indications that the surface needs maintenance are when its water resistance decreases or the surface feels dry and dull. It should then be reoiled.
In addition, the oiled surface can be refinished easily, which is not possible with lacquered surfaces. The affected area can be lightly sanded locally and treated again without having to renovate the entire surface.
The product is not subject to labelling requirements. The mixture is not classified as hazardous within the meaning of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. It does not need to be labelled with GHS hazard pictograms or signal words and is not classified as dangerous goods.
