A classic from our Heritage Collection, reimagined. For generations, natural waxes have preserved the beauty of valuable furniture and antiques. »OLI NATURA Furniture Wax« continues this tradition in a contemporary way with beeswax and carnauba wax. The solvent-free hard wax gives wood a velvety feel and protects it with a fine, water-repellent wax layer. Applied thinly and polished after drying, it develops a gentle to silky sheen.
Which wooden surfaces is OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax suitable for?
The colorless, unpigmented wood wax is suitable for the initial treatment of raw wood as well as for caring for oiled, stained, or waxed wooden surfaces indoors. It enhances furniture, antiques, picture frames, wooden mouldings, carvings, and turned woodwork. Its mild odor also makes it suitable for the inside of cabinets and drawers.
Other applications include surfaces finished with chalk paint, wooden toys, cutting boards, wooden cooking spoons, and other wooden kitchen utensils. If the type of wood or previous treatment is unknown, first test the product on a small area.
How does OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax work on wood?
Unlike wood oil, which penetrates the wood and protects it from within, furniture wax works close to the surface and changes the natural color tone less. The grain and structure remain visible, while polishing gives the surface a subtle sheen. Regular rewaxing supports the development of an even, distinctive patina.
How is OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax applied?
Apply the wax to clean, dry wood. If the consistency is too firm, the closed container can be gently warmed on a lukewarm radiator. Use a soft cotton cloth to spread it sparingly, thinly, and evenly in circular motions.
Leave to dry until the surface is touch-dry. Then polish with a fresh cotton cloth or white polishing pad. The more intensively it is polished, the silkier the sheen. For raw or highly absorbent wood, a second thin coat may be advisable after drying.
Tip: A discarded, clean, lint-free cotton jersey shirt is also ideal for polishing.
What makes the formulation of OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax special?
Purified beeswax nourishes the wooden surface, while hard carnauba wax gives the fine wax film strength. The formulation contains no added colorants or fragrances and is free from terpenes—including terpene-containing citrus oils such as orange peel oil—silicones, and VOCs.
Cloths soaked with the wood wax are not prone to spontaneous combustion.
How should OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax be applied correctly?
The wood surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust and grease. For initial treatment, raw wood should be sanded finely and evenly if necessary. Then remove the sanding dust thoroughly.
To care for previously oiled or waxed furniture, clean the surface carefully and remove any loose residue. For unknown types of wood or previous treatments, testing the product on an inconspicuous area is recommended.
Less is more. Apply the furniture wax thinly with a soft cotton cloth or applicator pad, spreading it in circular motions.
Solid furniture wax is easier to apply in a warm room. If it is too firm, warm it carefully with a hair dryer or briefly place it on a lukewarm radiator. This makes the wax more pliable and easier to dose.
Allow the furniture wax to dry until the surface is touch-dry. Then remove excess wax with a fresh cotton cloth. Afterwards, thoroughly polish the surface with a clean cloth or a white polishing pad.
How long does OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax take to dry?
- Before polishing: Allow to dry for 20–30 min. until the surface is touch-dry. For new wood, leave overnight
- Additional application: after approx. 16–24 hours
- Final hardness: after several days
Applying too much material, low temperatures, or high humidity will prolong the drying time. Until the final hardness is reached, protect the surface from water, do not clean it with a damp cloth, and use it only gently.
When is a second application advisable?
New, raw, or highly absorbent wood may require a second thin application of wax. Dry furniture or furniture that has not been maintained for a long time can also benefit from another coat of wax. Each coat must dry sufficiently before the next application.
How high is the coverage?
Coverage: 125 ml covers up to 3 m² per application, depending on the substrate. For maintenance, a thin application is usually sufficient. Coverage varies depending on the type of wood, sanding, absorbency, and amount applied.
How should waxed furniture be cleaned properly?
Remove dust with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe off adhering dirt with a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth. Do not clean the surface with excessive water. Wipe up spilled liquids immediately and dry any damp areas afterward.
Do not soak treated cutting boards and kitchen utensils in water or clean them in the dishwasher.
When should the wood surface be rewaxed?
There is no fixed schedule for rewaxing. The decisive factors are how the piece of furniture is used and the level of wear it is exposed to. Heavily used surfaces generally require more frequent care than decorative furniture.
The surface needs care when the wood appears dry or dull. A rough feel or reduced water repellency can also be an indication. If water no longer beads up as clearly, the surface should be refreshed.
Does it always need to be rewaxed immediately?
Not necessarily. It is often sufficient to first repolish the clean, dry surface with a cotton cloth or white polishing pad. This refreshes the existing finish without applying new furniture wax.
If the surface remains dry or dull, a thin coat of care product is recommended. Heavily used areas can be rewaxed selectively.
How should waxed furniture be refreshed?
Clean the wood surface thoroughly and allow it to dry completely. Then apply OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax sparingly and polish it as described in the application instructions. For regular furniture care, a thin coat is usually sufficient.
Rewaxing as needed preserves the surface and supports the development of a natural patina.
