1. Colors & Variants
1.1 What color shades are available?
NORDIC B is available in 14 ultra-matte standard RAL shades (e.g., RAL 5014 Pigeon Blue, RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, RAL 9016 Traffic White). All shades can also be mixed with one another.
1.2 Are the displayed colors an exact representation?
No. RAL shades cannot be displayed accurately on a monitor and are for reference only. The RAL Classic color fan is authoritative - it shows the shade, but not the ultra-matte sheen of NORDIC B.
1.3 What container sizes is NORDIC B available in?
In 1 liter and 2.5 liters.
2. Application & Preparation
2.1 Which surfaces is NORDIC B suitable for?
Suitable for wood, plywood, melamine resin panels, and even IKEA furniture such as IVAR or KALLAX.
2.2 Do I need to prepare the surface?
Yes. The surface must be firm, dry, clean, and free of grease. Lightly sand intact old coatings and completely remove layers that are not sound. For furniture made of melamine resin panels (e.g., KALLAX), it is also recommended to lightly roughen the surface with a sanding sponge.
2.3 Can I paint over old lacquer layers?
Yes, if the old coating is intact. Clean it thoroughly and lightly sand it first. Loose or flaking areas must be completely removed.
3. Application
3.1 How do I apply the lacquer, and how many coats are needed?
As a rule, two coats applied with a brush, foam roller, or spray equipment are sufficient. The next coat can be applied after approx. 2 hours.
3.2 Do I need to sand between coats?
For untreated wood, yes - lightly sand after the first coat to remove raised wood fibers.
3.3 Can I spray or thin the lacquer?
Yes. NORDIC B is adjusted for spraying, but can be thinned with up to 5% water if needed.
3.4 Can I also use NORDIC B with hardener?
Yes, optionally with OLI-AQUA Hardener 13.2. This increases resistance, for example on kitchen fronts or heavily used furniture.
3.5 Do I need to stir the lacquer before application?
Yes, NORDIC B should be stirred very thoroughly before every use so that all components are evenly distributed and a uniform color result is achieved.
4. Properties & Safety
4.1 Is the lacquer safe for health?
Yes. NORDIC B is water-based, low-odor, saliva- and sweat-resistant (DIN 53160), and suitable for children's toys (DIN EN 71-3).
4.2 Is the lacquer also suitable for outdoor use?
No, NORDIC B is only suitable for indoor use.
5. Care & Cleaning
5.1 How do I clean tools?
Simply with water and a little soap.
5.2 How do I care for colored surfaces and can I repair damage?
Wipe with a damp cloth (with mild cleaning detergent if necessary), then wipe with a dry cloth. Minor damage can easily be repaired by sanding and applying lacquer again.
6. Technical Details
6.1 What is the coverage?
With 1 liter, you can cover approximately 10–12 m² per coat, depending on the substrate, when applying with a roller or brush. For the recommended 2-coat system, this results in approximately 5–6 m² of surface area per liter.
6.2 How long is the product shelf life and how should I store it?
Unopened containers have a shelf life of approximately 24 months. Store in a cool, dry, frost-free place, ideally at 15–20 °C.
