Inspired by Scandinavian interior design, OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE preserves the natural appearance of light-colored wood. The typical intensification of the wood tone is reduced, the natural color remains largely unchanged, and the surface looks almost freshly sanded. Its high light stability helps slow darkening and yellowing while providing reliable everyday protection. Even on deeply brushed and textured oak, pigment accumulation in the pores remains almost invisible. This creates a calm, natural raw wood look without a limed effect.
When is OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE the right choice?
When you want to protect light-colored wooden furniture or stairs while preserving their freshly sanded character as much as possible.
Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE is particularly suitable for modern raw wood surfaces where a classic oil would intensify the wood tone too strongly.

What is OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE suitable for?
The raw wood effect oil is suitable for protecting solid wood surfaces in residential interiors - from furniture and tabletops to stair treads, wall panels, and moldings.
It is particularly suitable for untreated light-colored softwoods and hardwoods such as oak, ash, spruce, or fir.
For more heavily used surfaces, 2K application with OLI NATURA® H2O-Hardener is recommended.
What does wood look like after applying OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE?
The wood's natural color remains largely unchanged. The pores are not highlighted in white - creating a naturally raw surface without a limed effect that looks and feels like freshly sanded wood.
Optional additional work steps can be used to adjust the surface appearance precisely.
The impregnation can be refreshed repeatedly by re-oiling with OLI NATURA® Refresher.
Testing on a sample area of the original wood is recommended. 20-ml samplers are available for this purpose.
How easy is OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE to apply?
The raw wood effect oil is applied to bare wood in two coats - by brush, roller, or spray application. Since the water content can raise the wood fibers, light intermediate sanding after the first coat is recommended. Polishing the still-wet second coat with a pad makes the surface more matte and helps prevent layer formation and streaks. OLI NATURA® Refresher can be used for initial care or an optional third coat.
When is 2K application recommended?
For more heavily used surfaces, Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE is applied with OLI NATURA® H2O-Hardener in a 10:1 ratio. The additional cross-linking increases resistance to water, grease, and typical household stresses. 2K application should generally be used for tabletops and surfaces where grease splashes are expected.
What other features does OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE offer?
VOC-free, low-odor, and tested for interior use. The raw wood effect oil contains no volatile organic solvents, complies with DIN EN 71-3, is resistant to saliva and perspiration in accordance with DIN 53160, is approved by DIBt, and is declared by baubook. Oil-soaked pads and cloths are not prone to spontaneous combustion.
Preparation
- Sand the surface professionally. The final sanding grit for furniture should be no finer than 240 grit (for finer sanding, application with hardener is recommended).
- Wood moisture 8–12 %.
- The substrate must be dry, clean and free of
old coatings, grease, wax, silicone and sanding dust. - The oil should be applied at a temperature of at least 15 °C.
- Shake or stir the product thoroughly before use.
Note: For wood species rich in tannins (e.g. oak), pretreatment with PreOilCleaneris recommended before applying the oil to reduce possible water stains and improve oil absorption.
2K application (optional)
- Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE can optionally be applied with H2O-Hardener (10:1) .
- Pot life approx. 3 hours.
- Do not return mixed material to the original container.
- Recommended for tabletops, handrails and heavily used stairs.
Application - Brushing / Rolling
- FIRST OIL APPLICATION
Apply the oil generously and evenly with a brush or roller in the direction of the grain . - DRYING
Allow the surface to dry for approx. 2 hours. - INTERMEDIATE SANDING
If necessary, lightly sand the surface with P220-280 and remove all dust thoroughly. - SECOND OIL APPLICATION
Apply a second coat generously again.
5. OPTIONAL: POLISHING
If necessary, polish off any excess with a pad without leaving any residueuntil the surface feels dry to the touch .
Application - Spray Application
- Cup gun, nozzle approx. 1.8 mm, pressure approx. 2 bar.
- After spraying, lay offto ensure even distribution.
- Carry out intermediate sanding as described above, then spray on a second coat and lay off again.
Coverage
2 coats of approx. 40-60 g/m² each
(approx. 15-25 m²/l per coat, depending on the type of wood and sanding).
Drying
Dust-dry after approx. 1 hour
Sandable after approx. 2 hours
Ready for use after 5-8 days
During this time, protect the surface from water and
handle it gently.
Shelf life
Unopened original container can be stored for at least 24 months. Protect from frost.
Tool cleaning
Clean tools immediately after use with water and soap. Oil-soaked pads or cloths are not self-igniting.
Application instructions
- During the wet phase, a temporary deepening of the colour may occur. The raw wood effect returns after drying.
- Due to the water content in the system, intermediate sanding after the first application is technically advisable.
Oiled wood surfaces are easy to maintain and easy to repair. The surface can be refreshed at any time by re-oiling, and small scratches can usually be sanded out locally and re-oiled - without treating the entire surface again.
Freshly oiled surfaces may be more susceptible to water spots during the first few days after curing. Spilled liquids should therefore be removed immediately.
Cleaning
- Remove dust regularly with a soft cotton cloth .
- Wipe off light dirt with a slightly damp cloth and polish dry afterward.
- Stubborn dirt can be gently removed with OLI-NATURA wood soap . Aggressive household cleaners should be avoided.
Everyday protection
- Avoid standing water and wipe up liquids such as water, coffee, or wine immediately.
- Always place hot objects on a coaster when setting them down on wood surfaces.
Care & refreshing
To refresh the surface, occasionally apply a thin coat of OLI-NATURA Refresher by re-oiling.
You can tell when care is needed if:
- water no longer beads up
- the surface looks dull
- the wood appears dry
Repair
Fine scratches can be sanded out locally and then re-oiled with the same oil used for the initial treatment .
Scandic-Oil is not subject to labelling requirements. The mixture is not classified as hazardous within the meaning of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. It does not need to be labelled with GHS hazard pictograms or signal words and is not classified as dangerous goods.
