What distinguishes HS Professional Oil NATUR?

What does HS Professional Oil do to wood?

Is a surface treated with HS Professional Oil waterproof?
No. Once fully cured, it is water-repellent but not waterproof. Wipe up liquids promptly and avoid standing water.
What requirements must the wood meet before oiling?
It must be clean, dry, absorbent, and free of grease, wax, and other separating substances. Sand the wood evenly and remove dust thoroughly. The permissible wood moisture content is 8–12 %.
Can I use HS Professional Oil on lacquered or previously oiled wood?

What final sanding is correct for HS Professional Oil?

Yes. Smaller areas can be treated with hand pads. On larger areas, the oil can be worked in and buffed mechanically; on floors, use a single-disc machine.

Can I use HS Professional Oil with hardener?
Yes. Thoroughly mix 10 parts oil with 1 part OLI NATURA® Hardener and use immediately. The hardener accelerates curing and increases resistance; with COLOUR, it also improves pigment bonding. The pot life is approximately 2–3 hoursfor NATUR and approximately 1–2 hours.

If a lot of oil remains on the surface after the penetration time, sharply remove the excesswith a foam rubber squeegee before polishing. Why does the oiled surface remain sticky or dry only slowly?
There is often still too much oil on the surface. Low temperatures, high humidity, and limited air circulation also delay drying. Polish off all excess oil completely. The material, wood, and surroundings should be at +15 to +25 °C during application; ensure air circulation while drying.
When can I walk on an oiled floor again?
Without hardener, the surface can be walked on carefully after approximately 24 hours and will be fully cured after approximately 5–7 days. With hardener, it cures faster. Protect it from water and heavy use until it is fully cured.
When can I clean the surface with a damp cloth?
Only after it has fully cured. After that, clean as needed with OLI NATURA® wood soap using a barely damp cloth.
When should the surface be refreshed?
When protection begins to diminish, not according to a fixed schedule. Clean the surface first and allow it to dry completely. For refreshing, use the care product specified in the relevant Technical Data Sheet. If the color shade is also to be renewed with COLOUR, follow the separate application instructions in the data sheet.
Do I need to sand before re-oiling?
Not necessarily. When refreshing an intact, oiled surface, thorough cleaning is the first priority. Sanding may be necessary in the event of damage, stains, or troublesome care product residues. The condition of the surface is decisive.
What should I be aware of regarding oil-soaked cloths and pads?
They can spontaneously ignite. After use, soak them completely in water and then leave them spread out to dry outdoors. Avoid heat buildup.
