OLI-NATURA Oils & Waxes is taking another step toward “going green” and will switch all plastic bottles to 100 percent recycled PET (rPET). The first to make the switch are the 1-liter OLI-NATURA wood soap, the OLI-NATURA Refresher and the OLI-NATURA Exterior Cleaner.
We are working thoroughly to make the entire cycle - from production and packaging to recycling - as sustainable as possible. Recycling and sustainability are close to our hearts as a manufacturer. The best example of packaging material that meets the requirements of a circular economy is tinplate. That is why we fill nearly all OLI-NATURA Oils & Waxes in tinplate containers, which are up to 100% recyclable and offer the highest recycling rate. The material can be recycled infinitely often without any loss of quality, which is why empty tinplate containers should always be placed in the Yellow Bin or Yellow Sack for recycling.
By 2022, we also want to ensure that as many 1-liter PET bottles and 5-liter HDPE containers as possible are made from recycled material. The conversion will begin in May 2021. The first to make the switch are the 1-liter OLI-NATURA wood soap, the OLI-NATURA Refresher and the OLI-NATURA Exterior Cleaner. The new bottle bodies are made from 100% recycled PET (rPET) and therefore have a slightly different color than conventional PET bottles: They are not as “crystal clear” and have a slight gray tint. Labels and plastic caps will continue not to be made from rPET.
There is no question: Every rPET bottle that does not end up in the stomach of a marine animal is a success. rPET bottles can also be easily recycled and used to produce new materials. To motivate consumers to recycle, all labels on an rPET bottle will feature a button with the message: “Recycle me again. I am made from 100% recycled plastic.” (sst)
